Trevor was killed by a repeat drunk driver in La Center, Washington,  as he sat beside his grandfather on a pony cart on their way to be in a community parade. Ford Pierce, Trevor's grandfather, was severely injured. Miraculously, Trevor’s six year old sister Katee was saved by the horse she was riding behind the pony cart when the car hit the horse severing its back leg which caused him to buck her off.
