Thank you for your support of MADD and Walk like MADD! The Walk was a great success on Saturday with 400-500 walkers in attendance. The Walk generated community awareness of MADD's Campaign to Eliminate Drunk Driving and our mission "...to stop drunk driving, support victims of this violent crime and prevent underage drinking."

MADD Southeast Michigan had many Corporate and Friends and Family Walk teams participate this year. The story featured on Fox 2 News Friday night prior to the Walk featured Ashley Hall who was injured and Morgan Guice who was killed in the same drunk driving crash. The loss of Morgan, the senseless pain and suffering that Ashley, friends and family of both young woman have gone through needs to stop - all the pain and suffering of victims and survivors needs to stop! That is why it is so important for MADD and the community to band together to eliminate drunk driving. Please take a moment to view Morgan and Ashley's story by clicking on the link listed below.

MADD's overall Walk goal was to raise $150,000. Monies raised are used to provide free victim services, prevent underage drinking through educational programs, and stop drunk driving through community awareness efforts such as the Tie One On For Safety red ribbon campaign. We raised close to $101,000 but unfortunately fell short $49,000. If everyone who receives this email would consider donating $25 or seeking an additional $25 in donations we would reach our goal. The additional $49,000 would help MADD provide in Southeast Michigan:

  • $49,000 would provide 1 year of support and services to 200 victims/survivors
  • $49,000 would sponsor 40,000 safe drivers who pledge to Tie One On For Safety during the upcoming holidays and provide each a red ribbon and safe driving tips
  • $49,000 would train 667 teachers to teach high-school students about the dangers and consequences of underage drinking and impaired driving

If you are able to make a donation please click on the "Donate to a walker" tab to the left of this screen.

If you have additional donations you would like to add please forward all donations to my attention Beth Sowulewski at the MADD office at 11111 Hall Rd., Ste. 10, Utica, MI 48317.

Again thank you for your support of MADD and Walk like MADD! If you are able to give a little bit more thank you so much!
